A man has appeared in court charged in connection with the discovery of an oil-laundering plant at Hackballscross Co. Louth, on Wednesday. Pat Conway (34), Coolderry Road, Crossmaglen, Co Armagh, appeared at Dundalk District Court charged with attempting to remove a prescribed marker from mineral oil, contrary to section 102 of the 1999 Finance Act.

Leo Connolly, an officer with the Revenue Commissioners, said that when he arrested and charged Mr Conway yesterday he made no reply. Judge Flann Brennan adjourned the case to March 22nd and remanded Mr Conway on bail in his own bond of €9,000, after €3,000 in cash had been handed in to the court.
