Man arrested over Clontarf murder

Gardai are still questioning a man in connection with their investigation into the murder of a man whose body was found on Wednesday afternoon in Clontarf.

Finbarr Dennehy, who was single and lived alone, was found covered and lying on a couch in his apartment  in the Merchamp apartment complex on Seafield Road East in Clontarf.

His hands were tied and a bag was over his head.

A 41-year-old was arrested in Dublin city centre shortly after 8pm last night. The man is being held at Clontarf Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, and can be held for 24 hours.

Assistant State Pathologist Dr Michael Curtis carried out a postmortem last night on the body. It revealed Mr Dennehy died of a single stab wound. It is believed he had been dead for several days and was last seen alive on Saturday night or Sunday morning.
