Gardaí have arrested a man following a search of two houses in the Shannon area of Co Clare yesterday evening.
In what gardaí said was part of an operation targeting criminal activity in the Shannon and Limerick City areas, officers found parts of a pipe bomb, some ammunition, an amount of cannabis resin, and what is believed to be a handgun.
The man (27) arrested and is being held at Ennis Garda Station under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
