Man arrested after armed standoff

A man in his 50s is in custody today following a standoff with gardaí in north Dublin.

A man in his 50s is in custody today following a standoff with gardaí in north Dublin.

He barricaded himself into a house on the Ratoath Road in Cabra after an altercation in the area.

Gardaí sealed off local roads, and a negotiator was called to the scene. Armed members of the Emergency Response Unit entered the building after 9pm and arrested the man.

Gardaí have searched the building where the standoff took place.
