Man admits robbery and assault in New Ross

A man 43-year-old married man has pleaded guilty to robbery and assault charges in New Ross District Court in Co Wexford.

A man 43-year-old married man has pleaded guilty to robbery and assault charges in New Ross District Court in Co Wexford.

The charges relate to an incident in the town in which Ms Diane Hamilton was stabbed at her boutique, Whispers, in Quay Street, at around 2.15 p.m. on Wednesday.  Ms Hamilton, aged 23 from Camblin, New Ross is recovering in Waterford Regional Hospital having undergone surgery. Her condition is described as serious but stable.

Mr Francis Guilfoyle, from Kennedy Park, Thurles was arrested by detectives at around 10.15 a.m. yesterday and brought to New Ross Garda Station where he was questioned under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
