A Co Wicklow man has been remanded for sentence on May 11th after pleading guilty at the Central Criminal Court to kidnap, rape, robbery and attempted murder of a woman.
Lawrence Murphy (36), of Woodfield, Baltinglass, admitted four charges of rape and one of attempted murder on February 11th, 2000. He also pleaded guilty to falsely detaining the woman, assaulting her and robbing her of £700 on the same date.
Mr Justice Carney remanded him in custody for sentence and directed the preparation of a victim impact report. Evidence of the crimes will be given at the sentencing.
Murphy collapsed in court when his case began and after he pleaded guilty to the first four charges. He pleaded guilty to the remaining charges when the hearing resumed some hours later.
