The man accused of murdering his wife, Rachel O'Reilly, at their north Dublin home was yesterday granted consent to bail at a High Court sitting of Cloverhill District Court.

Justice Paul Butler granted bail to Joseph O'Reilly (34) on a number of conditions. Mr O'Reilly, who was not present for the brief hearing, pledged to lodge his own bond of €15,000.

His mother, Anne O'Reilly, has provided an independent surety of €15,000.

As part of his bail conditions, Mr O'Reilly has to sign on every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at Balbriggan Garda station between 7am and 9pm.

Mr O'Reilly has surrendered his passport and has agreed not to apply for a new one.

He is required to reside at his mother's address at Rivervale Crescent, Dunleer, in Co Louth, and has also been ordered not to interfere with any witnesses.

The State made no objections to this application. The book of evidence will be served on Mr O'Reilly on November 10th.

Mr O'Reilly is accused of murdering his wife, Rachel (30), at their home in the Naul, Co Dublin, on October 4th, 2004. He was charged at Swords District Court on Friday, October 20th.
