A 52-year-old Galway man died in a single vehicle road traffic incident on the N17 road this morning.
The man, who lived in Galway city, was the sole occupant of a car which hit a wall at Ballybrit on the N17 at about 9.30am.
He was taken to University College hospital, Galway where he was pronounced dead. No one else was injured in the incident, according to gardaí who are investigating the circumstances.
The road was closed for a time to facilitate a Garda forensic investigation, but has since re-opened.
