A 22-year-old man has been charged over the stabbing of a woman and teenager in Derry city last night.
He was charged with two count of malicious wounding, one count of threats to kill and one count of attempted hijacking, after he stabbed a female motorist and a 16-year-old boy during an attempted car-jacking last night.
The man threatened the woman with a knife while she was sitting in her parked car. After forcing her out of the car, he stabbed her in the arm.
The teenager witnessed the assault as he was getting off a bus nearby and ran to help.
He then chased the man to Bank Place, where there was a struggle. Despite being stabbed in the leg by the man, the boy continued the chase to a taxi rank at William Street.
With the help of a taxi driver, the boy stopped the man, who was later arrested. He is due to appear before Limavaddy court tomorrow morning.
