Man (19) dies in Roscommon crash

A 19-year-old man has died following a road traffic collision in Co Roscommon.

A 19-year-old man has died following a road traffic collision in Co Roscommon.

The crash happened on the N61 near Knockcroghery shortly after midnight.

The man, a Brazilian national, died after the car he was driving was in collision with a cattle truck at around 12.10am. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another man, a passenger in the car, was removed to hospital in a serious condition. Two women also travelling in the car received minor injuries. The driver of the truck, a man in his 60s, was treated in hospital for minor injuries.

All were taken to Roscommon County Hospital for treatment.

The occupants of the car were all in their late teens or early 20s.
