Gardaí are questioning a man following the seizure of four machine guns and ammunition in west Dublin yesterday.
A number of searches were carried out by gardaí from the South Central division as part of ongoing investigations into organised crime in Dublin.
The four Ingram machine guns, magazines, silencers and a quantity of ammunition were seized at a unit in Damastown Industrial Estate, Mulhuddart, a Garda statement said.
One man in his mid-30s was arrested at the scene and he is currently being detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act at Kevin Street Garda station.
A number of searches were also carried out in the Dublin 8 area by South Central detective units assisted by the Garda Emergency Response Unit, the Garda statement added.
