Employees of retailer Marks & Spencer have raised €1 million for cancer charities in Britain and Ireland, including €250,000 for the Marie Keating Foundation.

The company’s British and Ireland staff raised the money by climbing the highest peaks on both islands over two days, as well as completing 10,000 miles on exercise machines in 21 M&S stores in Ireland.

Funds going to the Marie Keating foundation will support 330 families living with cancer. Action Cancer in Northern Ireland and Breakthrough Breast Cancer in Britain will also benefit.
