Gothenburg - Don't like walking around with oodles of loose change jingling in your pocket? Little did you know it could save your life one day, as one man in Sweden discovered recently.

As he was walking up the stairs to his apartment with his new wife last winter, her jealous ex-boyfriend appeared from nowhere and tried to castrate him with a gunshot to his genitals. But the coins in his front pocket deflected the bullet, leaving him with no more than a bruise, according to the Goteborgs Posten newspaper yesterday. The jealous man was sentenced to 16 months in prison.
