The Trocadero centre in central London was today sealed off after two armed men overpowered security guards, Scotland Yard said.
The two men gained entry to the shopping and entertainment complex and threatened then "restrained" security guards, a Yard spokeswoman said.
One of the security guards managed to escape and raised the alarm at 3.40 a.m.
Shaftesbury Avenue has been sealed off while a police investigation continues.
