London Irish produced a powerful first-half display to crush favourites Northampton 38-7 on Saturday in English club rugby's cup final.
In front of a capacity Twickenham crowd, Irish scored three converted tries and a penalty within the first 35 minutes to open up a 24-0 half-time lead.
Centre Geoff Appleford started the scoring for the Irish in the 12th minute with a well-worked midfield try, and the Exiles moved further ahead when fullback Michael Horak burrowed over five minutes later.
A penalty from kicking machine Barry Everitt extended the London club's lead before winger Justin Bishop crossed the Northampton line in the 34th minute after a superb move down the left.
Northampton responded with a Ben Cohen try 10 minutes after the interval, but Irish put the result beyond doubt with late tries by Appleford and Bishop.
