Liverpool and Celtic both took a huge step to progressing to the group stages of the Champions League tonight with respective wins over Haka of Finland and Ajax of Amsterdam.
Liverpool romped to a very convincing 5-0 win, and all but assured their appearance in the Champions League proper.
Goals from Emile Heskey, Sami Hyppia and a hat-trick for the in-form Michael Owen saw off any threat from the Finnish underdogs.
Celtic's 3-1 victory, though not quite as easy, was nonetheless very impressive.
Two first-half goals from Bobby Petta and Didier Agathe saw the Scottish champions cruising in the first thirty minutes.
However Ajax pulled a goal back before half time through Shota Arveladze, to ensure the Scots didn't have too easy a time of it in the second half.
After the break, Ajax looked a far more impressive side than they did early on, but Celtic killed off the match after a well-worked move saw Chris Sutton head home a beauty in the 56th minute.
