A coroner has expressed concern at the "frightening list of killings, which continues to grow in Co Dublin", writes Georgina O'Halloran

Dublin county coroner Dr Kieran Geraghty made his comments yesterday after adjourning 10 inquests into violent deaths, including that of Dublin teenager Raonaid Murray, who was murdered nine years ago.

Raonaid (17), Glenageary, Dublin was stabbed to death just yards from her home.

Her body was discovered at Silchester Crescent, Glenageary, in the early hours of September 4th, 1999. The last definite sighting of the teenager was leaving Scott's pub in Dún Laoghaire at 11.20pm on September 3rd.

Det Insp Eamon O'Reilly of Dun Laoghaire Garda station told the coroner yesterday that the criminal investigation into the circumstances of the tragic death of Ms Murray is still ongoing and requested Dr Geraghty to adjourn the inquest under section 25.1 of the Coroner's Act 1962.

The coroner adjourned the inquest into Ms Murray's death to May 2010.
