Four divers were rescued in Dublin Bay this afternoon they were swept away from their safety boat by strong tides.

The Dun Laoghaire lifeboat was sent to Dalkey Island at 1.20pm where a motor yacht had recovered two of the divers.

A passing fishing boat sighted the other two and the lifeboat rescued them from the water.

The lifeboat then transferred the other pair from the motor yacht before towing the safety boat, which had developed engine problems, back to Dun Laoghaire Harbour.
