Mr Liam Lawlor will not be running in the upcoming general election, it was announced today.

In a statement from the Dublin West TD released this evening, Mr Lawlor indicated that he would not be contesting the election because of time constraints resulting from his obligations at the Flood Tribunal.

"Due to the time required in meeting my ongoing obligations to assist the Tribunal of Inquiry to the fullest possible extent, I feel I would not be able to devote sufficient time to properly represent my constituents in Dail Eirean," the statement said.

Mr Lawlor said that his decision not to run would disappoint many friends and constituents who had encouraged him to contest the election.
