The son of the assassinated British ambassador to the Republic, Sir Christopher Ewart-Biggs, visited Belfast yesterday to present awards to a range of local groups.

The Disabled Police Officers Association; Wave, the organisation which provides counselling and support to people bereaved and traumatised during the violence; and Greencastle Women's Group, which works in the nationalist Bawnmore area of north Belfast, were all honoured.
