The Laois county board will meet tomorrow night in an attempt to defuse the club-versus-county row that has seen  Portlaoise withdraw their players from the inter-county hurling and football panels.

The decision of has cast a huge amount of uncertainty over preparations for upcoming championship games, coming less than a week before the hurlers take on Offaly while the footballers open their Leinster campaign on June 4th.

Portlaoise took the decision after their inter-county players were not released for training a fortnight ago, resulting in the club failing to fulfil a county match against St Joseph's.

The Laois board subsequently docked Portlaoise two points and following a lot of consideration, the club decided to withdraw their players and make their facilities unavailable.
