Cricket:Ireland opening bowler David Langford-Smith has announced his retirement from international cricket with immediate effect.
His decision comes just weeks after Ireland captain Trent Johnston announced that he was taking a break from international cricket
Langford-Smith (31) has played 43 times for Ireland since making his debut against Hamsphire in April 2006. He is Ireland's leading wicket taker in One Day Internationals, and in total took 65 wickets at 27.14, with a best bowling return of 5 for 45 versus Bermuda in 2007.
A useful hitter down the order, he scored 321 runs at 17.83, with a highest score of 39 against Somerset.
Langford-Smith took the decision to retire after setting up his own business.
"It has been a tough decision for me, but one I had to make. On returning from the latest tour, I have realised that my work load has built up so much that I will find it hard to do anything else," he said.
"Playing for the Irish team has been the greatest sporting experience I could have ever wished for, and I am proud to have been a part of such a successful team both on and off the field," he added.
