The British Labour has retained a steady 19 per cent lead over the Tories in the latest opinion poll - which also shows voters opposed to entry into the euro by more than two to one.
The
Sunday Times
survey gives the state of the parties as: Labour 49 per cent, Conservatives 30 per cent and Liberal Democrats 14 per cent. All the ratings are unchanged from the newspaper's poll last week.
If those voting intentions were carried through on June 7th, Tony Blair would win a handsome 237 majority in the House of Commons compared with the 179 landslide margin Labour won in 1997.
The NOP survey of 1,001 adults also showed strong opposition to joining the euro - but an acceptance that it would happen during the course of the next parliament. PA
