Several people were killed when Kuwaiti police stormed a house of suspected terrorists today in the second day running of clashes with Islamic militants.
The Interior Ministry confirmed one civilian had been killed and said five police officers were wounded, one seriously.
State-run television said at least five terrorists were thought to have been killed. Police were continuing to pursue the militants who were "holed up in a number of locations" in al-Qurain, a town south of Kuwait City, the ministry said.
Today's raid came a day after security forces battled militants in a residential district of Kuwait City in a clash that killed three people - a terrorist suspect, a police officer, and a Bahraini person who was not a suspect.
Kuwait, a major ally of the United States, has been battling Islamic fundamentalists who oppose the presence of US forces in their country.
Today's shoot-out was the fourth this month between security forces and suspected terrorists.
