The High Court reserved judgment today on a long-running action for damages taken by a woman over the renovation and extension of her house in Co Offaly. The structure has been described as unsafe and uninhabitable.

Mr Justice O'Sullivan said it would be unlikely that he would be in a position to deliver his decision on the case, which ran for some six weeks, before the New Year. The judge travelled to Co Offaly last Friday to inspect the house at Ballykelly, Cadamstown, for himself.

Ms Sarah Maria Leahy (46) had sued Mr Joseph Rawson, described as a builder, of Coolafancy, Tinahely, Co Wicklow and Mr Fergus Garland and Mr Peter Murphy, Garland Murphy and Associates, a firm of architects/engineers, of Tullamore, Co Offaly, over the renovation and extension of the house.

Ms Leahy claims Mr Rawson, was the builder of the house which she alleges is unsafe. She is seeking some €212,000 in damages to demolish the house and replace it with a new structure. The defendants deny the claims.
