A 15-year-old girl has absconded twice from a £225,000 rehabilitation programme initiated by the Western Health Board last month to keep her out of trouble. The teenager was deemed "unruly and incorrigible" by Judge John Garavan last summer and spent some time in Mountjoy Prison.
Since then she has been under the care of health board staff at a residential centre in Salthill, Galway, but kept absconding. The girl also assaulted staff when confronted about her disruptive behaviour.
Reading an up-to-date report on the girl's progress, Judge Garavan said it was good in spots but she had absconded. He remanded the girl to appear before Galway District Court on January 2nd.
