THE creation of jobs and the abolition of service charges will be priorities in the campaign of Mr Tomas MacGiolla of the Workers' Party in the Dublin West by election.
Launching his campaign yesterday to win back the seat he lost in 1992, Mr MacGiolla said he was confident of putting the voice of the Workers' Party back in the Dail. His party stood for full employment but successive governments had failed in their responsibility.
In Dublin West, the party proposals included the immediate building of a Regional Technical College in Blanchardstown. It would attract new high tech industries and give skills to the young people in the area to allow them to get jobs.
The DART should be extended on the existing rail lines to Ballyfermot/Clondalkin and Castleknock/Clonsilla.
He said he intended to bring the battle against local service charges to the Dail. This Government had given a pledge to abolish the charges, "a commitment which they reneged on and which I won't let them forget," Mr MacGiolla said.
