The Local Employment Service has so far dealt with 22,000 people, of whom 7,100 have found jobs and 8,700 are in some form of education or training. The figures were given yesterday by the Tanaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Ms Harney, at the inauguration of the LES network in Drogheda.

The Minister also launched the GAIRM careers data base in Tallaght yesterday. It provides job-seekers and businesses with comprehensive information on 300 occupations and labour market trends, as well as details of the EU Network of National Resource Centres.

The information is available at FAS centres and through schools, libraries and information centres throughout the country. The email address is fasnrc@iol.ie
