Woman dies in Waterford road collision

Three-vehicle crash occurred at Kiely’s Cross yesterday evening

A woman in her 50s died yesterday evening following a three-vehicle traffic collision at Kiely's Cross, Ardmore in Co Waterford.

The woman, who was travelling in the backseat of the first car, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other two occupants in the first car, which collided with two other vehicles at about 5.30pm, were taken to hospital with injuries described as not life threatening.

The occupants of the second car were taken to hospital with minor injuries which the two occupants in the third card were uninjured. Those injured in the collision were taken to Waterford and Clonmel hospitals.

Gardaí arrested the 18-year-old male driver of the third car at scene. He was taken to Dungarvan Garda station where he remains in custody.
