IRA says it was behind bombs at Winslow

THE IRA has claimed responsibility for the Wilmslow explosions.

THE IRA has claimed responsibility for the Wilmslow explosions.

In a phone call to the RTE newsroom at 12.41 p.m. yesterday a caller, using a recognised IRA code word, said: "Volunteers of Oglaigh na hEireann planted two bombs in Wilmslow, Cheshire, England, on Wednesday, March 26th".

The caller made no reference to the bomb warning given on the same day at Doncaster. No device was found at Doncaster, and the Wilmslow bombs which damaged signalling equipment at the railway station, caused no casualties. However, both incidents caused rush hour chaos for morning commuters in the north of England.
