Two investigations have begun after a man died at a chemical factory in Cork early this morning.
The man was killed as a result of an incident while working with machinery at the ADM industrial plant at Ringaskiddy just before 1 a.m.
A source at ADM told ireland.com, citric acid is one of the main products manufactured at the plant.
The man, as yet unnamed, was from Rochestown Road in Cork city.
Both the Garda and the Health and Safety Authority have started inquiries into the incident.
In a statement released this evening the Health and Safety Authority said a team of inspectors had been on site at the plant since the incident and said an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident was underway.
"The Authority will continue to monitor the situation but is not in a position to comment further at this point while the investigation is ongoing", it said.
