Investigation of Glasnevin fire

Gardai were last night investigating a fire which broke out in Beneavin College in Glasnevin, Dublin.

Five units of Dublin Fire Brigade tackled the fire, which was reported around 8.15 p.m. yesterday. Gardai said a large gang of youths were seen in the area around the time of the fire, but they could not say whether the gang was involved in the incident.

The firemen spent several hours fighting the blaze, which damaged the school's recreational hall. The scene has been preserved for examination by the Garda Technical Bureau this morning.
