A man found dead in Northern Ireland over a month ago has been identified as a 35-year-old Belfast man who had worked in a Galway hostel. The body of Mr Desmond Field, from Glengormley, was found on June 28th. The RUC failed to establish his identity until they circulated a computer-enhanced photograph through the Internet.
No crime was suspected in connection with his death. The Galway link was established when a motorist told the RUC he had given the man a lift from the city.
It is believed Mr Field left Galway to visit his sick mother but never arrived. His body was discovered three days later in Newry, Co Down. The police found his rucksack containing Tshirts and a Claddagh ring, but no form of identification.
