A YOUTH was killed after being thrown through the rear window of a defective car went out of control following a disco night out, an inquest was told in Dublin yesterday.

Mr Gregory McMorrow (19), of Carton Estate, Sligo, was travelling home with three friends in the car, which struck two walls on the main Ballina Sligo road at Baltra on October 14th, 1995. Sgt Dominic Flynn, told the Dublin Coroners Court yesterday he saw the deceased and another back seat passenger, Mr Jason Kelly, of St John's Terrace, Sligo, lying injured on the road at Tangero West. Both were seriously injured. Mr McMorrow died of head injuries in a Dublin hospital the following day.

Garda David Kelly, a public service vehicle inspector, said while there was severe damage to the silver Ford Escort, the 15 year old car was dangerously defective before the accident. A verdict of accidental death was recorded.
