A mother who had to stop breastfeeding her baby because of whiplash, has been awarded £21,000 damages at Dublin Circuit Civil Court.

Ms Jacqueline Fricker (32), a secretary, of Berwick Place, Swords Manor, Co Dublin, told Judge Raymond Groarke she injured her neck and right arm when another car struck the rear end of her vehicle at traffic lights more than two years ago.

She sued Mr Patrick Rogers, Claremount Estate, Navan, Co Meath, and told her counsel, Mr Michael Coen, that she still suffered pain in her arm and neck today.

"Doctors say her difficulties with feeding her baby are attributable to the injuries she sustained to her neck," Judge Groarke said. "She has told me of dreadful pain in her neck and arm following the accident but the symptoms are now somewhat more intermittent."
