United Nations - Indonesia yesterday ruled out an agreement on an East Timor autonomy plan at current talks, and rejected a UN proposal for an indirect vote on the territory's future status.

The Indonesian Foreign Minister, Mr Ali Alatas, commenting after one-and-a-half hours of talks, said his government needed more time to complete draft autonomy proposals.
