Lisbon - Portugal and Indonesia have restored full diplomatic relations after a break of nearly a quarter of a century triggered when Jakarta's troops invaded East Timor.

Portugal's Foreign Ministry said a joint statement with Indonesia was scheduled for signing in New York by both countries' ambassadors to the United Nations.
