One of two prison doctors who have reportedly been given 30 days notice last night refused to comment on the case, citing the Official Secrets Act.

RTE news reported that the two doctors, each with more than 20 years service in the post, had been given notice after they refused to sign a new common service contract for doctors working in the prisons. The Irish Medical Organisation confirmed last night that it was negotiating with the Prison Service on the doctors' behalf. A spokesman from the Prison Service would not comment.
