Icon appoints new chief operating officer

Irish clinical research, pharmaceutical and biotechnology company Icon has appointed Dr Guy Dewil as chief operating officer.

Irish clinical research, pharmaceutical and biotechnology company Icon has appointed Dr Guy Dewil as chief operating officer.

Dr Dewil joins Icon from Barc Global Central Laboratories where he held a similar role. He will manage Icon's central laboratories' facilities in Farmingdale, New York, Dublin, Ireland and Singapore.

Icon President Bob Scott-Edwards said Dr Dewil's "comprehensive knowledge of the central laboratory industry, coupled with his invaluable experience in process improvement and quality management will be vital as we continue to expand our global footprint."

Icon currently employs over 6,500 people at 71 sites in 38 countries.

At 2.55pm Icon shares were unchanged at €27 on the Dublin market. Icon shares have risen over 20 per cent this year and the stock has a share capitalisation of €1.57 billion.
