Hoax device causes NI security alert

A number of people were evacuated from their homes last night after a security alert in north Belfast.

A number of people were evacuated from their homes last night after a security alert in north Belfast.

The alert was sparked by a report of an object being thrown at a house in Castleton Gardens shortly before midnight.

The device was examined and subsequently judged to be a hoax. People were allowed to return to their homes at about 2.30am.
