Denis Hickie and Kevin Maggs have both passed fitness tests and will join Eddie O'Sullivan's Ireland squad on the plane to Scotland this evening.

The duo suffered groin strains in training yesterday but were passed fit this morning in time for Saturday's World Cup warm-up match against the Scots in Murrayfield.

Tyrone Howe and Rob Henderson, called up to the squad as a precautionary measure, will return to Ulster and Munster respectively for the opening games of the Celtic League.

Scotland coach Ian McGeechan today named Edinburgh prop Allan Jacobsen in his starting team for the game.

Jacobsen only joined the squad this week after an injury to Bruce Douglas but now has a genuine chance of making McGeechan's 30-man squad for the World Cup in Australia.
