A High Court ruling today paved the way for awards made by the Hepatitis C Compensation Tribunal to be appealed.

A High Court ruling today paved the way for awards made by the Hepatitis C Compensation Tribunal to be appealed.

The ruling was made in the case of a man - who cannot be named for legal reasons - who has accepted an award of £125,000 from the tribunal, but who sought to appeal the amount awarded.

The man was given leave to appeal his compensation in the High Court.

The judgment could open the door for others to appeal their compensation.

This could result in the State having to pay out millions of euro in additional compensation.
