* A poetry therapy convention over the next five days aims to use poetry as a starting point for therapeutic writing.

* As part of Migraine Action Week, the Migraine Association of Ireland is holding a free information seminar entitled Approaches to Migraine Management on Saturday, September 15th from 10.30am-4pm in the Ballsbridge Hotel, Dublin. Consultant neurologist Martin Ruttledge will give an overview of migraine.

* The Alzheimer Society of Ireland (ASI) is holding a free awareness evening on Wednesday, September 19th at 7pm in the Davenport Hotel, Dublin 2. Medical and legal professionals will offer advice and information on living with dementia. For further details, see Alzheimer.ieor tel: 1800 341341.

* Learning to Breathe Underwater is the title of a workshop on self-care for the carer in Northbridge House (St Luke’s Home), Castle Road, Mahon, Cork on Thursday, September 27th. The workshop will be led by Dr Michael Kearney, palliative care expert, and Dr Radhule Weininger, psychotherapist and meditation teacher. More details on tel: 021 4359444.

* The recently formed charity Ectopic Pregnancy Ireland is holding an informal get- together for those who have experienced ectopic pregnancies.
