Whoever allocated the temporary summer offices to deputies in Leinster House (and Quidnunc doesn't think it was Charlie McCreevy), obviously has a sense of humour. Labour leader Ruairi Quinn is being housed in a room with pink walls; it is one of the Dail offices only occupied by ministers when the house is sitting and they are away from their departments.
While the less than salubrious Labour annexe is being done up, the party has rooms on the upper ministers' corridor and FG is being housed at Cabinet level. Now Labour, instead of looking out at Fisheries Yard, can regard the fountain at Government Buildings and keep a beady eye on all comings and goings. But in case readers think deputies are cavorting in great luxury over the summer, with "pinko lefties" even getting pink rooms, Quidnunc points out that they are moving three times and it's not easy - from the old offices to Government Buildings, then back again and eventually into the new block due to open at the beginning of October.
It is said that by being in Government Buildings, the Opposition is getting delusions about what is to come. But then the temporary little arrangement could take on a certain permanence if there's an election before they are on the move again.
