Greencore profits fall 3% in first six months

Food group Greencore this morning reported pre-tax profits of over €30.1 million for the six months to March 26th.

Food group Greencore this morning reported pre-tax profits of over €30.1 million for the six months to March 26th.

Those profits were down 3 per cent on same period last year, but the company said it was confident about the full year and that overall like-for-like sales growth in the half year was 4 per cent, with 6 per cent in the convenience food division.

Total turnover for the group in the half year was €713.4 million, compared with €743.8 million.

Greencore chief executive Mr David Dilger said results for the second half of the financial year will reflect the benefit of the price increases and cost savings achieved to date.

However, there has been an inevitable time lag between the cost increases and price increases, which has negatively impacted results for the first half, Mr Dilger said.
