Manufacturing orders rose a seasonally adjusted 2.3 per cent in April from March and were up an unadjusted 7.8 per cent from a year earlier, the German Finance Ministry said.
Domestic orders in the whole of Germany were up 4.6 per cent in April from March and rose 3.7 per cent from a year earlier, while foreign orders fell 0.8 per cent rose 13.1 per cent respectively.
For the two-month period March-April, orders overall were up 0.5 per cent compared with the January-February period and were down 1.5 per cent from March-April last year.
March-April domestic orders were down 1.4 per cent from January-February and fell 6.0 per cent from March-April last year. Foreign orders climbed 2.6 per cent and 4.4 per cent respectively.
