Racing:Aidan O'Brien revealed George Washington is still "a possibility" for the Breeders' Cup Classic next month.

Although plans to put their star miler through his paces at Southwell yesterday were scuppered due to fog, the Ballydoyle team are nonetheless considering the Classic on November 4th as a viable option.

George Washington, winner of the Stan James 2000 Guineas and Queen Elizabeth II Stakes this term, also has the Breeders' Cup Mile as an alternative to the Classic.

O'Brien said: "We ended up having to use our own gallop, and while we did loosen up the surface, the kickback was not the same as it would be in the US, or as loose as it would have been at Southwell.

"We're looking at the work George Washington did positively and the Classic is still a possibility.

"All went well and Mick (Kinane) who rode him was very happy with him.

"Plans still have to be discussed with the boss (John Magnier), Michael (Tabor), and Derrick (Smith).

"None of them were here to see the gallop and there will be a meeting of everyone involved before decisions are made," the Ballydoyle handler told the Racing Post.
