Oslo - The Norwegian government has set a landmark in acceptance of homosexuality by appointing both members of a gay couple to senior political posts.

The Labour Prime Minister, Mr Jens Stoltenberg, who came to power last week after the collapse of a centrist coalition, yesterday named Mr Vidar Ovesen deputy Finance Minister after last week making Mr Ovesen's long-term partner, Mr Anders Hornslien, his replacement in parliament.
