Gardai investigate man's death in Ennis

Gardaí are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a man's body in Ennis, Co Clare last night.

Gardaí are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a man's body in Ennis, Co Clare last night.

The body was found at Phoenix Court in Ennis shortly before 11 p.m.

A garda spokesman said gardaí subsequently stopped a car on Mill Road and arrested the driver on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death.

He is being questioned by gardaí in Ennis.

The State Pathologist Dr John Haribson will carry out a post mortem examination on the dead man later today.

Also in Ennis a 19-year-old man died after he was struck by a car at Roslevan at 3.15 a.m.

It is understood that a group of people were walking home from a disco when two young men were hit by a car. They were taken to Ennis General Hospital where the 19-year-old died shortly afterwards.

The other man is in a stable condition.
