Garda praised for heroin seizure

A garda has been highly commended by Judge Patrick McCartin for apprehending a man who carried £200,000 of heroin into Dublin Ferryport earlier this year. Garda Michael Fitzgerald, of Sundrive Road station, told Dublin Circuit Criminal Court that acting on confidential information he was waiting for the ferry on January 20th and arrested a man who arrived from Holyhead. Donald McComiskey (54), of Green fort Close, Clondalkin, was jailed for three years.
